I can’t believe I have never heard of this place before.  How is it possible?  These burgers are damn good. Tiny House Hotel

I don’t normally write much about hotels on here.  For me it seems like a stale topic.  For the most part most of Portland’s hotels are conveniently located in downtown but tend to be overpriced in my opinion.  This isn’t to say if you are staying Portland don’t stay in a hotel.  It is hard to beat their central location.  If you are looking for a good value on a Portland hotel, I suggest using my bidding strategy for Priceline.  Continue reading

London Pasty Company

London Pasty Co.

The first time I had a pasty, ironically, was not in London but in Tempe, Arizona back in 2011.  One of the highest rated restaurants in Tempe on Urbanspoon is the Cornish Pasty Co., a restaurant specializing in meat pies – i.e. pasties.  It was the first time I had a meat pie and I discovered two things about pasties that day.  (1) They are really good and (2) they are a great hangover food.  So when I learned about the London Pasty Co. at the Cartlandia food cart pod, I knew I had to check it out.  Continue reading

The Portland International Rose Test Garden

The International Rose Test Garden is one of Portland’s top tourist attractions.  In spite of the crowds I still find it to be a very calming space.  The Rose Garden is located within Washington Park in SW Portland.  Washington Park itself is a very expansive park that includes other attractions such as the Washington Park Zoo, Forestry Center, Children’s Museum, Hoyt Arboretum, Vietnam Memorial, and Japanese Garden.  Hiking trails from the Hoyt Arboretum also connect up with Forest Park, another Portland gem.  Continue reading
