Disclosures and Privacy Policy

Well, it was bound to happen.  So a friend of mine has been bugging me for a long time that I need to put up a disclosure policy and a privacy policy on the blog.  I have resisted because frankly, I didn’t think this blog would receive enough attention for it to matter.  However, in the last few months I have been receiving numerous inquiries from marketing people about promoting events and or products.  Aside form mentioning a contest that earned you a free weekend getaway to Portland I have said no thanks to all of them.  However, a week ago I was approached by a company to get a first hand tour of a website that will be launching a beta version in Portland.  I won’t go into details about what it is but it seems like a potentially cool website and so I am going to hear them out.  I may or may not decide to mention it on Portland Travel Tips but I believe my friend is right that I need to have these policies up.  So here you go in honor of my friend, which I will name after her, I give you this site’s Cannon-Maries:

Disclosures:

1. I never promote or endorse a product or service that does not create high value for my readers.

2. Any products that I receive I have gotten free of charge and at no personal cost to myself.

3. Every contest and/or giveaway is paid by myself, unless otherwise stated.

4. I cannot guarantee that my review of a product, service, or business will be “positive” in nature; I promise to provide a fair and valuable assessment and review to my readers first and foremost.

5. I retain the right to provide select advertising and sponsorship across this blog property for the right partners and businesses.

6. I promote affiliate partner businesses that are relevant to my readers. I will not necessarily note the use of an affiliate link every time.
