Last night I went to Alameda Brewing for dinner. One of the things I really love about Portland is that it seems like every neighborhood has it’s own special places to eat. Alameda Brewing in the Beaumont/Wilshire neighborhood is one of those special places.
With a lot of brewpubs in town the food doesn’t always get the attention it deserves. Sometimes you will try out a brewpub and find that while the beer is excellent the food leaves you unsatisfied. This is not so with Alameda Brewing, which is why the folks living nearby should consider themselves lucky. Not only does Alameda offer some great beer the food is pretty good too.
It had been awhile since I have been to Alameda and I am glad I went. I love the location which is in one of my favorite Portland neighborhoods and the restaurant itself has a nice open and clean feel to it.
I’ve been to Alameda a few times and oddly enough have never tried their hamburger. My wife and I were in the mood for a hamburger last night and happened it be passing through so we thought we would pop in and try one. I ordered the cheese burger with smoked chedder cheese.
I’m glad I ordered it because I was not disappointed. The meat was flavorful and juicy. What I really liked about the burger was that the smoked cheddar complimented the beef flavor really well. All in all it was a pretty darn good burger. I thought the price tag at $9.50 was a little steep. When I pay $10 for a burger I would like to see some sort of house sauce and a bit more french fries. Putting that aside I thought it was really good and worth the visit. If I lived in the neighborhood I would go there a lot because not only is the food good but if I haven’t mentioned it already, the beer is great.by
