Pine State Biscuits: A Great Portland Breakfast Spot

I went to one of my favorite places for breakfast this morning, Pine State Biscuits.

It’s January so of course it is raining and I thought to myself what better on a rainy Thursday morning than the Reggie Deluxe for breakfast.

What’s the Reggie Deluxe? Glad you asked

It is just the most glorious, gut busting, heart attack inducing, biscuit sandwich you will ever eat in your life.  On this wonderful plate is their very flakey biscuit, topped with a piece of fried chicken, 2 pieces of bacon, cheese, a fried egg, and their delicious sausage gravy.  Trust me it is as good as it looks.  I’m sure the rest of their stuff on the menu is good too but I have never tried it, I keep getting this.

What I like most about the Reggie Deluxe is how they manage to get each piece perfect.  The biscuit is great.  It is soft and flakey, just the way you would want it.  The fried chicken is crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside.  The bacon, perfect. Then add on to that the gooey cheese, a fried egg cooked just right, and the sausage gravy.  The sausage gravy is what brings this sandwich together.  The sausage gravy rivals the biscuit for perfection.  It is creamy and delicious with just a hint of spice. Nothing overwhelming but just the perfect amount.  Love it.
